The Talkative Tortoise -Short Stories for Kids

Once, there was a tortoise that lived in a pond. Two swans visited the pond every day. The tortoise was very talkative and enjoyed having long conversations with the swans. Over time, they became good friends and were all very happy together. One day, a severe drought occurred that lasted for a long time.

As a result, the water in the pond dried up, leaving them without anything to drink. The swans decided to relocate to a different area where water was available. The tortoise asked the swans to take it along with them. The swans proposed a plan: the tortoise would hold onto a stick with its mouth while the swans would carry the two ends of the stick.

They instructed the tortoise not to speak during the journey, as doing so could cause it to fall and get hurt. The tortoise understood and promised not to open its mouth. As they flew over a village, many people spotted the tortoise and were surprised to see it in the air. 

The Talkative Tortoise

They shouted at the tortoise and made fun of it. Angered by their remarks, the tortoise couldn't resist and opened its mouth to speak. Unfortunately, as it did so, it fell to the ground. The swans were shocked to witness their friend's tragic end. The tortoise's impatience and foolishness led to its demise.
